Supporting Women: The Menopause Awareness Series
As many of you are aware, one of my primary areas of expertise is on women approaching midlife and/or fully in it. With that, I help women understand menopause and all that can come with it, both physically and psychologically. I hold space and guide women through all of the strange, unexpected, and unexplained health symptoms and help them curate lifestyle changes and soul connections to not only embrace this period of time but truly use it as a great leap of personal growth.
In my 1:1 Coaching and Corporate Education work around menopause, it's clear that more awareness and access to solutions be brought to the forefront.
Coming up: October 18 is World Menopause Day.
That's why I am using this month to help with practical support for workplaces to understand the magnitude of this topic and how it impacts their employees as well as their bottom line. This will in turn, help more women.
Here's why it matters:
1) According to the North American Menopause Society, approximately 6,000 women in the U.S. enter menopause every day, totaling around 2 million women each year.
2) A recent study by the Mayo Clinic estimated that the U.S. economy is conservatively losing more than $26 billion annually due to the failure to address the effect of menopause on working women. This staggering figure includes $1.8 billion attributable to lost workdays and $24.8 billion in direct medical expenditures.
Did you know?…
Nearly half of the workforce is women, with a significant portion over 45 and within the menopausal age range.
About 60% of menopausal women report that their symptoms negatively impact their work.
Only 25% of women feel comfortable discussing their menopausal symptoms with their employers or colleagues.
Less than 50% of employers have policies or practices in place to support menopausal women in the workplace.
To help spread the word, I’m excited to announce a month-long Menopause Series featuring weekly videos, free resources, a movie screening for locals, and a chance for a 1-on-1 coaching session with me. Stay tuned into your email box for this information.
