Getting very clear on the questions, “What does optimal health mean to me? What does it feel like? What does it look like? What would it allow me to do? How would it impact my relationships?”, are some of the first questions I have clients get clear on when we start our work together. When most people refer to their health, they limit the categories to nutrition and exercise. They get hyper focused on particular macros and miss the fact that the extra weight could be coming from work stress or an unhealthy relationship instead of the food they are eating. People tend to underestimate the many other factors that are contributing to their overall well-being. They don’t realize the deep connection of our mental, emotional and social dimensions.

Health is a dynamic and ever evolving state, influenced by a variety of factors, both internal and external. I help clients live their “healthy lives” by encouraging self-reflection and exploration in these various aspects and empower them to make more informed and balanced choices that promote holistic health.

GIVE IT A TRY

To rate yourself on this self-reflection wheel, consider each category individually and assess your satisfaction or fulfillment in each area. Use a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the least satisfied and 10 being the most satisfied. Here's a brief guide for each category:

  1. Wellness:

    • Reflect on your physical health, including exercise, nutrition, and sleep.

    • Consider your mental and emotional well-being.

    • Rate yourself based on how well you are taking care of your overall health.

  2. Self:

    • Reflect on your inner being including your self esteem, growth practices and environment in which you live.

    • Consider how you view yourself and the steps you take for self growth. Does the environment in which you live allow for that?

    • Rate yourself based on where you are currently.

  3. Relationships:

    • Evaluate the quality of your relationships with family, friends, and significant others.

    • Consider the support system you have and the connections that contribute positively to your life.

    • Rate yourself based on the strength and satisfaction of your relationships.

  4. Purpose:

    • Reflect on your sense of purpose and meaning in life.

    • Consider whether your daily activities align with your values and long-term goals.

    • Rate yourself based on the fulfillment you derive from your sense of purpose.

  5. Financial:

    • Assess your financial well-being, including budgeting, savings, and investments.

    • Consider your overall financial stability and whether it aligns with your goals.

    • Rate yourself based on your satisfaction with your financial situation.

  6. Creativity:

    • Reflect on your engagement in creative pursuits or activities.

    • Consider whether you allow room for exploration, innovation, and self-expression.

    • Rate yourself based on the satisfaction you derive from your creative endeavors.

After assessing each category, take note of areas where you feel content and fulfilled, as well as areas that may need attention and improvement. Consider 1-2 action items you can take to iimprove your overall satisfaction. This self-reflection can serve as a valuable tool for setting goals and making adjustments to enhance your overall well-being. Remember that balance across these dimensions contributes to a more holistic and fulfilling life.
